Unusual scenes at K-1: the Japanese promotion typically known for its professionalism around weigh-ins had several fighters miss weight ahead of tomorrow's K-1 BEYOND.
{Yodkhunpon} was 100 grams over the limit and stripped of his K-1 Super Lightweight (-65 kg) title. His opponent, {Shu Inagaki}, is now the only one eligible to claim the belt — if he loses, it will remain vacant.
{Lyra Nagasaka}, scheduled to face {Rui Okubo}, failed to attend the weigh-ins and was disqualified. Okubo is awarded a win by default. On twitter, Lyra expressed his shock and announced that he will be retiring, only for him to delete the tweet shortly after.
{Sota Amano} missed weight by a staggering 2.2 kg, putting his bout against {Leona Pettas} in jeopardy. According to K-1 rules, missing weight by more than 2 kg results in immediate disqualification. However, at the press conference, Pettas stated he would accept the fight under two conditions: that this would be Amano’s final appearance in K-1, and that he successfully makes weight at 63.0 kg in a second weigh-in scheduled for 11:00 AM the following day. A final decision is expected by 17:00.
Despite the chaos, the card still delivers with four title fights: {Ouyang Feng} defends his K-1 Super Welterweight crown against {Darryl Verdonk}, {Yodkhunpon} clashes with {Shu Inagaki} with only one man eligible for the Super Lightweight title, {Mahmoud Sattari} takes on {Thian de Vries} for the vacant Cruiserweight belt, and the vacant Super Featherweight (-60 kg) title will be decided in a high-stakes one-night Grand Prix.
