At the press conference for K-1 Rebirth 2, K-1 producer {Carlos Kikuta} shared the promotion's plans for the upcoming calendar year.
K-1 WORLD MAX will make a return on March 20 at the Yoyogi National Gymnasium in Tokyo, Japan. A favorite for many, K-1 WORLD MAX was a yearly 70 KG Grand Prix from 2002 to 2014 that gave birth to some of the sport's biggest stars such as {Buakaw}, {Masato}, {Andy Souwer}, and {Giorgio Petrosyan}.
Kikuta already specified that MAX this time will include all weight classes from Middleweight (75 KG) and below. How MAX will differentiate itself from previous one-night tournaments the promotion has held in recent years has not been revealed.
In addition to five tournaments in Japan, K-1 will also expand overseas in 2024.
Starting in March, K-1 will join the efforts of GLORY, ONE Championship, and RIZIN and start conducting doping tests for all athletes fighting.
